Journal: The Night I Built My First Lead Magnet
A lead magnet sounds like marketing vocabulary. What it actually is: the first thing you ever make that a stranger can hold. Tonight I built mine. This is the honest journal of how it went.
The decision
Every business book says the same thing: give something valuable away first. Fine — but with what? I have no product line, no back catalog. What I have is the exact path I'm walking: how a beginner with $0 assembles a working stack. So the guide became that: Wealth From Zero — the beginner's map I wished someone had handed me.
The build
Six pages. Written in one sitting, edited in two more. The structure fought me at first — I kept trying to make it a course. It's not a course. It's a map: where the free tools are, what order to build in, what to ignore. The moment I stopped trying to impress and started trying to be useful, the pages wrote themselves.
Two tools did the heavy lifting: a document editor and Canva's free tier. Total cost: $0. The cover got my Income Ghost picture. Page two got my real bio — the business chapter I'm writing now, not the ones before it.
The detail nobody mentions
Inside the guide sit two affiliate links — programs I promote, disclosed as affiliate links right on the page. That matters to me. A free guide that secretly sells is a trap; a free guide that openly earns is a business. The disclosure is printed, not whispered.
Shipping it
The file went up on Google Drive, set to anyone-with-the-link. Then the launch: Instagram, TikTok, Threads, Facebook — one post each, no ads. An automation on Instagram now sends the guide to anyone who comments SETUP on the launch post.
Was it perfect? No. Did it need to be? Also no. A lead magnet's job is to exist, help someone, and start the list. Perfection is a delay tactic wearing a nice suit.
What it changed
Before tonight, Wealth With Enrique was accounts and intentions. Now there's a thing — a file with my name on it that a stranger can download at 2 AM. Businesses are made of things like that, stacked.
The guide is free, linked at the top of my Linktree. Take it. Page one starts exactly where I did: zero.
